J-P Valkeapää will direct the feature film Mona based on my writing. Aleksi Bardy from Helsinki-filmi acts as the producer. Mona will be Valkeapää’s third and my first feature film.

Valkeapää’s and Bardy’s previous co-operation They Have Escaped won Jussi-prizes (Finnish Oscars) for best directing and best film, and is in my opinion still the best Finnish film of the decade. I’m eager to see whether they top themselves.

My romantic comedy script Honey Trap became 3rd in The End -screenwriting contest arranged by Solar Films. Almost 500 scripts took part in the competition, and according to the jury the awarded scripts stood out clearly.

The previous national screenwriting competition in Finland was arranged in 1990 by the Finnish Film Institution. In that time the winner was Juha Lehtovuori’s Goodbye, Trainmen. Also Iiro Küttner’s The Prodigal Son got made into a film.

Short story Staalo has been selected among the top in Lapin Satumaa -writing contest.

The story is not suitable for small children, so it won’t be included in the compiled childrens’ book, but published later in Lapillinen -magazine by Lapin Kirjallisuusseura.
